The new grant will allow Yeshiva to bring much needed experience to the Department as well as a breath of fresh air in the form of at least three new economics professors over the next few years. "Our curriculum needs to be designed so that if someone wants to go to graduate school in economics then they will have excellent preparation," said Dean Srolovitz. This is good news for students as the grant will go a long way towards improving the quality of the division as a whole and especially for Sy Syms students who take economics as a requirement.
In fact, the grant does more for the division than just give the Department a little bit of extra money. It enables the University to show prospective professors that Yeshiva is serious about its economics division and is dedicated to help build a better curriculum. Certainly the fact that Yeshiva is located in
"The cooperation between Yeshiva College and Sy Syms School of Business in the search for new faculty members in the Economics Department is something that we will see more often in the future in other departments as well," commented Dean Srolovitz. Dean Ginzberg has extensive knowledge, as well as many contacts, in the field of economics – not to mention the same in other areas. Speech courses which are a requirement in Sy Syms are another area where students can expect to see cooperation between the two Deans. Because the student bodies of the two schools are intertwined, it behooves everyone to work together and ensure that the academic integrity remain equal for everyone.
