Danny Cohn YC '08: Sometimes, living off-campus does have its advantages. We have an air conditerner in all our bedrooms and also one that really cools down our livingroom. I cannot comment on the situation that my fellow YU?students may have to endure, its their choice to live in the dorms.
David Gilboa YC '10: At all times my freezer is stacked, but not with things to eat. Rather it is filled with ice packs and frozen vegtables. When I'm outside the building, I usually have the ice packs strapped all around my body. When in the dorms, I walk around wearing only the ice packs. The frozen vegtables are my backup. When the ice packs' cool has worn off, I duct tape the vegtables to my chest and thighs. My roommate laughs, but he's the one sweating.
Binny Garden YC '09: What heat? Being in the Mazer Yeshiva Program, I am always in the comfortable and air-conditioned Beis Medrash learning Torah all day, so I don't feel the heat at all. If the heat is bothering anyone they should know that all are welcome to learn together as one Yeshiva in the Beis Medrash at night, no matter what morning program you are in.
Anonymous Morg 4th Floor Resident, YC '08 What heat? I have an air conditioner. I try to stay one step ahead of the security guards and Office of?University Housing. They confiscated one, but since then, I've developed new secret tactics and hiding places to keep room at a cool and comfortable 62 degrees.
...And Danny and Ari Say
Unlike the robber barrons of the 4th floor of Morg, the common people must resort to more extreme measures. Sometimes a 25 inch fan is not enough to do the job, but going to Night Seder isn't the only way to get into an air conditioned room in YU. One reccomendation is spending extended time in the Residence Hall lounges or on the shuttle between campuses or around the neighborhood for no apparent reason, besides staying cool. Alternatively, find yourself some long sheets of paper and use them as a makeshift fan. Luckily for us, global warming is just a myth and the winter should bring -10 degree mornings of joy to the students of Muss, Morg, and Rubin.
