Commentator: What if anything does it mean to you to represent a Jewish college as an athlete?
JL: In my opinion, representing a Jewish college as an athlete is extremely important. We as athletes get a chance not only to represent our school, but our heritage as well. It gives us a chance to interact with other collegiate athletes and to show them that as a Jew, we can be successful not only in the classroom, but on the playing field as well.
C: Do you view yourself as the captain/leader type?
JL: I view myself as a captain. When it comes to golf, since I have been with the team for longer than most of the other guys, I know the situation better and therefore am able to help them with anything that may come up. Because of my past experiences, I try to give advice to my teammates to the best of my ability to help them succeed in as many ways as possible.
C: What's the best/worst part about being a YU athlete?
JL: What I enjoy most about being a YU athlete is being able to compete against other schools. I find that competing in sports is a great way to really see what you are made of. Not only that, but I have been able to meet so many great guys from the other schools that we compete against. The beauty of golf is that while you are competing with other athletes, you still have to walk 18 holes with them so you really get a chance to talk and get to know them.
C: What is your personal most memorable moment as an athlete, from Little League to today?
JL: My personal most memorable moment in golf would probably have to be about four years ago. I was playing with a couple of friends at this outing and I was down by 1 stroke going into the 18th hole. Well, on 18, I sank a 25 foot to make birdie and win the match. The putt was crazy but just winning the match was a great feeling.
