Transgender Teacher Generates Discussion On Appropriate Values For College
This past July, Rabbi Yona Reiss began as Dean of Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary. His predecessor, Rabbi Zevulun Charlop, announced his retirement last year after serving as Dean for thirty-seven years. Although Rabbi Reiss had not previously been involved in Jewish education, he is no stranger to RIETS.
Sheldon Silver (born February 13, 1944), lawyer by profession, has served in the New York State Assembly since 1976, and has been the Speaker of the Assembly since 1994. He, along with two of his four siblings, attended Yeshiva University; he sent three out of his four children to YU as well.

Many students are eagerly awaiting the end of the Glueck Center construction, whether it be for the sake of serenity during class, or in anticipation of a new makom in a new beit medrash. Recently, the Hebrew department at Yeshiva College, headed by Dr. Samuel Schneider, underwent an intensive review by a third-party committee. The review concentrated on all aspects of the department, including a review of the two Hebrew classes required of all students - Intermediate Hebrew I and II (HEB 1205-1206).
