On September 10, the Orthodox Union threatened to withdraw its hechsher from Agriprocessors meats in response to the meat producer's most recent federal scandal. Over the summer, Agriprocessors faced a host of criminal chargers following a federal raid of their plant in Iowa, among which included child labor violations and the exploitation of illegal immigrant workers.

The OU warned the US's largest kosher meat producer that if it did not name a new CEO in the near future, it would lose its OU kosher certification. Agriprocessors heeded the Union's warning, as it named corporate attorney Robert Feldman the new CEO on September 17. The Orthodox Union welcomed the hiring on their website, asserting that Feldman is "an independent professional who is committed to moving the company forward in the right direction."

The Rabbinical Council of America announced on Wednesday that it will be forming a task force which will formulate ethical guidelines for American business practice. The task force will be chaired by Rabbi Asher Meir, a Jewish business ethics authority.
